Refuse and Recycling

REFUSE is picked up EVERY Monday and


Please put your refuse and recyclables out AFTER 5 PM on Sunday
& BEFORE 7 AM on Monday.

Keep your refuse in garbage cans with lids. Bring your garbage cans back from the curb after pick-up. Glass, aluminum and steel cans, #1 and #2 plastics, newspapers, and telephone books are voluntarily recycled in our Borough. Recyclables should be placed in containers or see-thru bags. Do not use standard dark plastic trash bags for recycling. Newspapers should be put out for pick up in paper or plastic grocery bags. Do not stack your trash on top of fire hydrants.

PLEASE NOTE : If you have a large item (furniture, washer, dryer, etc.), Waste Management will pick them up at no extra cost, but you MUST call them in advance at 1-800-458-4090 to notify them that you are putting out a large item for pick-up. For carpeting or branches, please cut into 3-foot lengths and bundle with wire or rope; otherwise, they will not take them.

For large clean-out piles of household refuse or large piles of yard waste, please contact Waste Management IN ADVANCE, as these types of refuse may result in an additional fee. Waste Management will NOT take building materials, computers or televisions. (For more details regarding computer and television disposal, see page 1.)

Borough Meetings are as follows:

Council Meetings: Second Thursday

Committee's meet as follows:
Strategic Planning: First Thursday
Finance: First Thursday
Property and Planning: First Thursday
Public Safety: Third Thursday
Public Works: Third Thursday
Community Events: Third Thursday

Committee meetings begin at 6:00 PM, the regular meeting of Borough Council is the second Thursday of each month beginning at 6:30 PM. All meetings are held in the 2nd floor Council Chambers of the Borough Building, at 376 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.

Refuse is picked up every Monday and recycling is picked up every other Monday. A calendar that includes collection dates is available here.
